Magnum photographer Inge Morath (1923-2002) traveled to the Middle East in 1956 and photographed extensively, for the most part traveling alone. The recently published book Inge Morath: Iran focuses on  daily life in Iran then and “the continuity–or lack of it–between past and present.” More about Inge and her foundation here.
